Final class

Today we finally finished the groups stadium, which I didn't expect we would be able to complete. The over all product turned turned out presentable.

Vickie done most of the work along with Chris's and Walter.

I could of done a little more models but everything was pretty much done.

the things I contribute to the stadium were the stadium scoreboard and room, also some adverts on the wall.

Rotating object

In todays' class I had to make a rotating object, I made the portal from Stargate, the rotating part was the actual portal itself.

It was fairly simple code to apply the code to an object but effective and useful.

POPGUN

In today's class we made an object that we can use. We made the pop gun using code that enabled the object to shot what ever item was selected, some people shot chairs or boulders, I used a small ball.

T-shirt

Today's class we made a T-shirt for our character. It was fairly simple, we imported an image that we made using a template in photoshop and placed it on our character.

Today's class 19

Todays class was very productive, everybody made something and the stadium is well on it's way to complete.

during today's class I made an old style scoreboard at the top of the entrance (inside the stadium) I used a basic screen shape and applied a texture that I made in Fireworks. Also I discussed with Vickie and Chris about what the theme will be, like the structural layout and colors.

The Stadium secret

The famous grand stadium of St Albans is know all around the Country for its famous sporting spectacles and main events, but it’s what happens at night that has people talking.

During the day what happens at the stadium is normal but at night things get really weird, some people say that it’s haunted others think it’s just a way to detour people entering the property at night, whatever is going on it has people talking.

The owner of the Stadium Terri Lion said to the press

“We believe it’s just a publicity stunt, much like what happened under construction 8 years ago”.

Nobody bought that excuse at all!

A couple of days later in the second page of the local news paper showed 3 letters of previous employees, somehow these letters were stolen from the stadium administration office, they read of chilling encounters, ones that could not be explained! The first letter read

4/2/02

Kyle Dally

I’m sorry sir, I cannot work here anymore! The night shifts are getting way to weird. Just a couple of nights ago I was entering the hall of fame section to clean when I saw something move out of the corner of my eye, I went over to investigate and was shocked to what I saw, one of the pictures was all torn up and covered in what looked like blood.

I came back with the security guard and was amazed to that the picture was untouched. I looked at the guard and he looked at me in confusion, and then told me “the same thing has being happening to me”. That was the last night I have being there.

1/23/02

Michel Anikeos

I am handing in this letter to tell you that I am quitting, I am not going to work here anymore, the things that happen I cannot explain them; it most defiantly is not a publicity stunt.

Some of the things I hear make my hair stand up on end, in the dead quit of the night I hear whispering and laughing, and when I go to check it out I see that there is nobody there.

Sometimes it’s like the voices are talking to me, one night I heard someone say “watch out” I turned around and barley dodged a bookshelf near the offices.

Many people have quit from working at the Stadium and have being paid to keep their mouth closed! People know that Terri Lion isn’t telling all what he knows.

There are some people that have an idea to what may be happening. The leading developers and builders of the stadium told of an incident where some people died during construction. Not many people know of this incident as it was a long time ago, nobody ever gave a thought that maybe this incident can be linked with the death of these people! Everything that goes on you can be sure that the St.Albans Stadium will not be boring.

Plasma

Here is a Plasma TV I made quickly, I probably should of added images on the screen e.g. Simpson images on the screen.

Making the TV was relatively easy simple shapes and colors, and here is mine.

Desk model

Here is a model I made in some spare time.

I see allot of weird stuff being made in second life and I thought what about making something that is practical.

The desk was simple to make, I had to upload some wood textures which worked alright. My next task is actually trying to sell an Item I make, if i can make one good enough.

Second life gun

here is a rocket launcher I attempted to make during class, I say attempted because i was caged half the time while making the gun.

Problems I ran into when making the gun was getting it to fire! The code used for the other gun we made was not working as I hoped

The modeling of the gun turned out not that good.

Once we figured out how to make the gun it really showed of the program and some of it's capabilities.

My house

Here is an image of my house I made in second life. Pretty basic house, I was learning how to use the modeling tools for the first time and got a good understanding.

Now that I have a better understanding of the tools, I am going to attempt to make a realistic house in the near future.

3 good second life locations

Bank

Good- I like the fact the building is inside a mountain it really looks good. Textures work well with the model.

Bad- None.

Koolhas mall

Good-
The layout of the building is good, the placement of all the objects is good.

Bad- Low speed broadband will not be able to view this location.

Monoca

Good- I like everything about this place, the modeling, placement and theme.

Bad- The blank space of land left, does not compliment the good work done on the town.

My second life character and me

This is my second life character, notice how he is a tank and looks Awesome, sick, kick ass, sad to say I am only 99.7% of this person. Prepare your eyeballs and look below.

Awesome

Hi my name is Matthew, my friends call me Matt, Matty, Mat or it.

Second life cons

Second life obviously is not a perfect program!

Things that might bug you when using the program could be the view style when modeling, when you model their is not external program that you ca use, you must model inside the game! Open to people caging you :)

If you do not have a fast internet connection you will not have a chance of paying second life.

Why second life is good?

The second life program has very little limitations to what you can do.

Style your character anyways you want make him/her a dog, robot, insect, or sludge monster, their is no limitations to what you can do.

Modeling is also fun in second life, the tools that are used are similar to a 3d modeling program obviously not as advanced but for its purposes is definitely acceptable.

Taking advantage of code is also helpful, codes enable you to do cool things such as make and object rotate, like a propeller for a helicopter.

Week 3

Class was more productive than previous classes, we have decided on the basic idea for our class project.

The basic idea is to make a city in Second life, details about the city have being undecided.

Second life class

Second life is not what I had expected, the world is so much larger and more interesting than I had previously thought.

Second life has very little limits to what you can do which makes it a great program to work with

Week_2 modeling

I have not decided what part of our Second life project I am going to model.
